General Assembly

What is a General Assembly Meeting?

Our General Assembly (GA) meetings are held three times each school year and are an important opportunity for our entire school community—parents, guardians, teachers, and staff—to come together.

During a GA meeting, we:

  • Review the PTA’s mission and goals

  • Share updates on the budget and fundraising progress

  • Provide a recap of programs and events

  • Gather feedback from our school community

  • Vote on items that require member approval (if applicable)

While parents are always welcome to attend the first 30 minutes of our monthly Executive Board meetings to share comments or feedback, GA meetings offer a full, in-depth update on our work and the chance for all members to vote when needed.

It’s one of the best ways to stay informed, have your voice heard, and help shape the programs and events that make Banyan special.

I’m a mom of two kiddos at Banyan - one is heading into 5th and the other into 2nd. My husband, Jacob, and I are originally from Moreno Valley. I work in the mental health field on the administration side of things. I am very passionate about expanding access to mental health services including Sport Psychology. I also care a lot about making sure our kids have access to enriching activities and experiences that go beyond what the district can provide. I am also committed to helping our teachers and parents feel seen, supported, and appreciated throughout the school year

I’m a proud mom of three, with two Banyan graduates and one child entering fourth grade. I’ve been part of the PTA for over five years and have lived in the Newbury Park community for the last 14 years having moved here from Wisconsin. I love being involved not only in my city, but also in my kids’ school helping to create a strong, supportive environment for students, families, and staff.
