What is the PTA?
The Banyan Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a volunteer group made up of parents, teachers, staff members, and friends of the school who share one mission: to work together to create a thriving academic and social environment for our students.
We partner closely with the school to provide programs that enrich our children’s educational experience, such as physical education, art, music, and more. Our PTA serves four main roles:
Volunteer coordination – organizing and supporting parent and community helpers.
Social & community-building – creating events and traditions that bring our school community together.
Fostering communication – keeping families, staff, and the school connected and informed.
Fundraising – generating the resources needed to make these programs and events possible.
Our Goals:
Build a healthy, nurturing school community.
Foster collaboration through strong communication.
Enhance academic and enrichment opportunities.
Support classrooms through room parents and volunteers.
Programs & Events Funded by the PTA:
Thanks to the generosity of our families and community, PTA funds go directly to programs and events that make Banyan a special place to learn and grow, including:
Educational Programs: PE, Art of the Masters, Music, Maker’s Space, Field Trips, Movie License, Books for our school-wide reading program
School Spirit & Community Events: Red Ribbon Week, Trunk-or-Treat, Patriotic Assembly, Touch-a-Truck, Talent Show, Family Dance, Back-to-School Party, Bingo, Family Art Night
Enrichment & Special Days: STEM Science Day, Earth Week, Reading Garden, Assemblies

And so much more, which is all made possible through the hard work of our volunteers and the support of our community.
Why Join the PTA?
When you join the Banyan PTA, you’re doing more than becoming part of a parent-teacher group. You’re becoming a partner in your child’s education.
Your membership:
Helps us reach our annual fundraising goal of $120,000 so we can continue to fund vital programs like PE, Art of the Masters, Music, Maker’s Space, field trips, and school-wide events that make Banyan an extraordinary place to learn.
Gives you a voice. PTA members have the right to vote on how funds are spent and what programs and events we prioritize for our school community.
Strengthens our community. The more members we have, the stronger our voice is when advocating for our students’ needs, both at Banyan and in the larger education community.
By joining, you’re not committing to volunteer or attend monthly meetings (unless you want to!). You’re simply showing your support for the programs, resources, and experiences that directly benefit our children.
Together, we can make sure Banyan stays a place where students not only learn, but truly thrive.
